Open Space Sessions

We have included two Open Space sessions on our programme because we want to create Open Spaces to hear your ideas and to make the most of the energy we'll create when we're all together.

1. Saturday 11.00am -12.30 pm with

Chris Ferreira

How can community gardens lead the way and make food secure communities?

We want to hear your wildest ideas, your strangest dreams and your secret desires about what a food secure community could look like. Set your imagination free and explore the possibilities with your fellow dreamers and thinkers.

There is an increasing awareness of the need for sustainable and healthy food systems that are resilient and local.  Growing food is at the heart of what community gardens do with many located within urban settings where there are lots of hungry mouths.

The outcomes from this Session will include a plan for action to spread seeds and begin the change.

2. Sunday  11.15am-12.30pm with

Costa Georgiadis

How do we gather people to stop the nonsense? Building a social movement one volunteer at a time.

Join Costa and volunteer groups in an Open Space session to explore big ideas and develop plans about how we can excite, motivate and get people to stay involved in Community Gardens and join the growing social movement to change...

The outcomes from this Session will include a plan for action to spread seeds and begin the change.

ABOUT US
The WA Community Garden Network (WACGN) is an informal network of WA community gardens and their supporters. Established in 2004, the network has played a significant role in bringing together people involved in community gardens to share ideas and skills, work collaboratively and provide a voice for the community garden sector in WA.

The WA Community Garden Gathering 2018 Committee first met in May 2017 in North Perth. The Committee meets regularly (every 2 weeks) with three working groups; Planning, Engagement and Strategic Direction, busily working to bring to fruition an event with a difference. Our meetings often run late into the night as we discuss, debate and imagine this event together. We are excited and hope you will be too!
